This Privacy Policy explains how Ms. Francis AI LLC ("Ms. Francis," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Ms. Francis tutoring service, available at app.msfrancis.ai and related websites and applications (the "Service").

Ms. Francis provides AI-powered tutoring across a range of school subjects, currently including mathematics, physics, chemistry, English, history, Spanish, and French. Because our Service is designed for use by families and students, we take privacy — and especially children's privacy — seriously. Please read this policy carefully.

By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Who We Are

For the purposes of applicable data protection laws, Ms. Francis AI LLC is the controller of personal information collected through the Service.

2. Who Can Use the Service

Account holders must be at least 18 years old. The person who creates an account, agrees to our Terms, and provides payment information must be an adult.

Self-signup users must be at least 13 years old. An individual aged 13 or older may create their own account.

Children under 18 may use the Service only through an account created and supervised by a parent or legal guardian. A parent or guardian who creates a student profile for a child is responsible for that child's use of the Service and consents to the collection and use of the child's information as described in this policy.

We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create their own accounts. If a child under 13 is to use the Service, they must do so through a parent- or guardian-managed account.

See Section 8 ("Children's Privacy") for more detail on how we handle information relating to children.

3. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password. Passwords are stored in hashed form by our authentication provider; we do not have access to your plaintext password.

Student profile information. Account holders create one or more student profiles. For each student profile, we collect information such as the student's first name (or a nickname), grade level, selected subjects, and a chosen avatar color and icon. You decide what name or nickname to enter for a student profile.

Learning content. When a student interacts with the Service, we collect and store the content of those interactions — the questions asked, the messages exchanged with the AI tutor, and related learning activity. This content is associated with the relevant student profile so that the Service can provide continuity and a record of past sessions.

Voice data. If a student uses voice features, audio is captured and sent to our speech-to-text provider to convert it into text. We do not store the audio recordings; only the resulting text is retained as part of the learning content described above. See Section 5 for details on our service providers.

Usage information. We collect information about how the Service is used, such as the number and length of sessions, voice usage minutes, feature usage, and similar metrics. We use this to operate the Service, enforce plan limits, and improve the product.

Payment information. When you start a subscription, your payment is processed by Stripe, our third-party payment processor. Stripe collects and processes your payment card details and billing information directly and securely. We do not collect or store full payment card numbers. We receive limited information related to your subscription, such as your subscription status, plan, billing dates, country, and a customer identifier.

Technical information. Like most online services, we and our providers may automatically collect technical data such as device and browser type, IP address, and similar information used to deliver and secure the Service.

Analytics and advertising information. On our marketing website and during account signup, we use cookies and similar technologies (including the Meta pixel) to understand how visitors find us and to measure the effectiveness of our advertising. This may involve collecting information such as pages visited, referring source, IP address, device and browser information, and whether an adult visitor started a trial or created an account. We also send corresponding event information to Meta from our servers. This advertising measurement relates to adult account holders and website visitors only — it is never applied to student profiles or student learning content. See Section 9 for your choices.

4. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including the AI tutoring features;
• Create and manage accounts and student profiles;
• Process subscriptions, trials, billing, and cancellations;
• Maintain a record of learning sessions so students and account holders can review past activity;
• Enforce plan limits (such as included voice usage) and prevent abuse;
• Communicate with you about your account, including service-related and transactional messages;
• Improve and develop the Service; and
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use student learning content to serve third-party advertising.

5. Service Providers and AI Processors

We rely on a small number of trusted third-party providers to operate the Service. These providers process information on our behalf so that we can deliver features. They include:

• Supabase — authentication, database, and storage infrastructure.
• Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing.
• Anthropic — AI language model used to power the tutoring conversations.
• OpenAI — speech-to-text transcription of voice input.
• ElevenLabs — text-to-speech generation of spoken responses.
• Wolfram Alpha — computational support for mathematical queries.
• Meta Platforms — advertising delivery and conversion measurement for our marketing website and adult account signup (see Section 3).

When a student interacts with the AI tutor, the content of the interaction (and, for voice input, the audio) is transmitted to the relevant AI provider in order to generate a response. Based on these providers' applicable terms for their developer/API services, data submitted through their APIs is not used to train their AI models. We do not authorize these providers to use your information to train their models.

Stripe processes payment and billing information as our payment processor, and handles that information securely under its own privacy policy. We do not store your full payment card details.

Each provider handles data under its own terms and privacy practices. We select providers that we believe offer appropriate protections, but we encourage you to review their policies for more information about their practices.

6. How We Share Information

We share information only in limited circumstances:

• With service providers, as described in Section 5, to operate the Service.
• For legal reasons, if we believe disclosure is required to comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Ms. Francis, our users, or others.
• With advertising platforms, specifically Meta, in the limited form described in Section 3 — to measure and improve our advertising to adults. We do not share student profile information or learning content with advertising platforms.
• In a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy.

We do not sell or rent personal information to third parties.

7. Data Retention

We retain account information, student profiles, and learning content for as long as your account is active, and as needed to provide the Service. If you delete a student profile, the associated learning content (such as conversations and projects) is deleted along with it. If you close your account or request deletion, we will delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we (or our payment processor) are required or permitted to retain certain records (for example, billing records kept for tax, accounting, legal, or fraud-prevention purposes).

As noted above, we do not retain voice audio recordings after they are transcribed.

8. Children's Privacy

Protecting children's privacy is central to how we built Ms. Francis.

Parental control. When a parent or guardian creates a student profile for a child, the parent or guardian controls that profile, decides what information to provide, and may review or delete it at any time through their account.

Parental consent. By creating a student profile for a child under 18, the parent or guardian consents to the collection and use of that child's information as described in this Privacy Policy, and confirms that they are authorized to provide that consent.

Limited collection. We collect only the information needed to provide the tutoring Service to the student. We do not require a child's full name, home address, or phone number to use a student profile, and we encourage account holders to use a first name or nickname.

No behavioral advertising to children. We do not use student information to deliver targeted advertising, and we do not sell student information.

Children under 13. We do not knowingly permit children under 13 to create their own accounts. Children under 13 may use the Service only through a parent- or guardian-managed account, with the parent or guardian providing consent. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information without appropriate parental consent, please contact us at team@msfrancis.ai and we will take steps to delete that information.

Parental rights. A parent or guardian may review the personal information associated with their child's profile, request its deletion, and refuse to permit further collection by deleting the profile or closing the account. To make such a request, contact us at team@msfrancis.ai.

If our practices regarding children's information change, we will update this policy and, where required, obtain any additional consent.

9. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise many of these directly within the Service (for example, editing or deleting student profiles), or by contacting us at team@msfrancis.ai. We will respond to requests as required by applicable law.

Cookies and advertising choices. You can control cookies through your browser settings, and where required by law we ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies on our marketing website. You can also adjust how Meta uses your information for advertising through your Meta account settings and Meta's ad preference tools.

You may unsubscribe from non-essential marketing emails at any time using the link in those emails. We may still send you transactional or service-related messages necessary to operate your account.

10. Information for Users in Canada and the United Kingdom

We offer the Service to users in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate, which may have different data-protection laws than your country.

United Kingdom: Where UK data protection law applies, we process personal data on the legal bases of performance of a contract (to provide the Service you request), consent (which a parent or guardian provides on behalf of a child), our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Service, and compliance with legal obligations. We apply heightened protections to children's data consistent with the principles of the UK Children's Code (Age Appropriate Design Code). You have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your data, and to object to processing; you may also lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Canada: Where Canadian privacy law (such as PIPEDA) applies, we collect, use, and disclose personal information with appropriate consent and for the purposes described in this policy, and you may request access to and correction of your personal information.

By using the Service, you understand that your information may be processed in the United States.

11. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, hashed password storage, and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective Date" above and, where appropriate or required, provide additional notice (such as through the Service or by email). Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
